Eastern Siberia is bounded by the Yenisey River and the regions of the Russian Far East. To the north it stretches to the Arctic shoreline and to the south borders on Mongolia and China.Tayshet is the western most point of the Trans Siberian Railway. Zhelezogorsky was created in the 1960s as an iron ore processing plant. It is situated 150km east of Bratsk. It is exceptionally clean and well maintained.
Cape Kotelnikovsky is a remote spot and is uninhabited on the western shore of Lake Baikal, 65kms south of Severobaikalsk and is known for its hot springs.
10kms from here is the Baialsky Range there are spectacular waterfalls and glacial lakes. It is possible to take a day trip to Kotelnikovsky by chartering a skippered boat.

If you are invited to a Russian's home it is proper to bring a gift. Wine, confectionary or a cake is acceptable. Flowers are ok but make sure they are of an odd number as even numbers are for funerals. Once the meal begins it is rude not to accept the food or drink.
When sitting even with strangers it is customary to share your food, drink or even your cigarette.
