The Denisova Cave found in the Anuy River Valley about 100kms south west of Gorno Altaysk was the home of early Palaeolithic period.

The Opera and Ballet theatre in Novosibirsk is beautiful. It has a silver dome and is truly grand. The locals consider this their main attraction.

The local Museum displays exhibits ranging from Mammoth skeleton through to minerals and metals.

The village of Pokrovskoe was the birthplace of Rasputin. The village is located 50km along the road from Tyumen on the Tura River.

The Romanov's first burial site is beside ulitsa Karla Libknekhta 600m north of prospekt Lenia. It is marked by two crosses one iron and one marble. Their actual remains now lie in St Petersburg cathedral where the families’ predecessor lies.

There are plenty of places for mountain climbing in both the Ural and Altay Mountains, rafting and canoeing, skiing and fishing.
